Hello!
This newsletter may look a little different to you! Over the weekend, I switched services to Substack. (This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, but didn’t have the time while I was working on DAWNBREAKER.)
You probably already get some newsletters from people who use Substack, so maybe you know the ropes. But if you don’t, don’t worry. It should be simple.
If you’re worried anyway because nothing is actually simple, let me reassure you: if you don’t want anything to change, you don’t have to do anything. You will just keep getting this newsletter like normal.
Okay.
Moving forward, I’m going to be sending out a few different kinds of newsletters.
The usual news and updates on books, releases, covers, TV adaption news, and other things my readers expect to find here. Everyone is subscribed to this automatically. That’s this email, in fact! So if this is all you want, there’s nothing else you need to do. Carry on.
Writing and publishing. I used to write about writing a lot more and I really enjoyed it. I’d like to get back to it. I’ll cover craft, working as a full-time author, industry, and more. Feel free to ask questions and request topics you’d like me to discuss. You can opt-in for this one.
Knit night. This will come as a shock to exactly zero of you, but I really like yarn. In this newsletter, I’ll share project photos, updates on what I’m making and learning — stuff like that. It is also opt-in.
(I hope that link works! If it just takes you to my main page, make sure you’re using the email you subscribe with and tap your profile on the top right. You should see “manage subscriptions” there. But let me know if you need help and I will see what I can do. Sorry, I’m still learning this new system!)
The old hats at Substack might know that sometimes certain level of newsletters can cost money, as the people writing them need to be able to afford to eat. (Relatable.)
Right now, I don’t have plans to make a paid tier. I’m not at a point where I can commit to delivering enough content to ask you to pay for it monthly.
If that changes, I will add an additional newsletter; current newsletters will remain free.
For now, I hope you enjoy the new look. And if you decide to opt-in to the different kinds of emails, I hope you enjoy those when you get them! I already have something drafted for the writing newsletter!
(I did make an attempt to bring some of my old newsletters with me, but mostly failed. So if you go onto my Substack page, it’s going to look pretty empty. That’s okay. There wasn’t much I was really worried about importing. And I managed to bring the most important part — you!)
A few other updates really fast:
The MY LADY JANE show is filming now! That’s pretty much all I know about that. But believe me when I say I think about it literally every day.
I finally, finally finished and turned in DAWNBREAKER, the sequel to NIGHTRENDER. There’s a bit more work to do on it, but it’s an actual whole book now. Let me know if you’re interested in hearing more about the writing process on this one! (For the writing newsletter, obviously!)
The local fiber festival is coming up next week. I’m planning to make some bad (good) decisions.
Okay, I hope you have a great week!
