Event updates, audiobook sales, and a friendship bracelet
I hope I get to see you in person soon!
Hello friends!
I have a couple of updates for you:
The audiobook for NIGHTRENDER is on sale! It’s 60% off. This is the perfect time to grab it ahead of DAWNBREAKER coming out in just under two months.
And yes, DAWNBREAKER will be in audiobook, too. A few weeks ago, I had a quick call with the producer to go over some of the pronunciations, and I just heard from the incredible narrator, Eva Kaminsky, that she’s finished reading and sent it off to the fine people at Recorded Books to finish production.
She also said she really liked it. Which could have been her just being nice, but I’m choosing to believe she meant it. So there’s an early review: it’s a good book.
Also in reviews: Kirkus liked it, too. Among other things, they said it’s “An effective conclusion to an action-packed fantasy duology.”
Also, my husband is currently reading it, and he thought the cow part was funny. Dark. But funny.
DAWNBREAKER event update:
This will come as a surprise to exactly none of you, but my amazing friends at One More Page have agreed to have me at the store for DAWNBREAKER. At this point, I think they are obligated to; last month, one of the wonderful humans there gave me a friendship bracelet that says “One More Page.” I shrieked and hugged her and shrieked again. It’s all kind of a happy blur.
They also said I could bring a friend, so Lisa Maxwell is going to be hanging out, too!
I’ll be adding more to this list soon, so keep an eye out:

A couple of my recent posts you might be interested in catching up on:
When you have to talk to people about your book — how does a shy, barely socialized writer talk to strangers? I have a few tips beyond “throw your book at them and run.” Also, a little story about the time I, uh, didn’t do so well at an event.
When you know you’re writing for a limited audience — sequels are already hard, and when you know you’re going to have fewer potential readers than you did for the first book . . . that can come with some extra feelings.
The return of last year’s sweater — and some other yarn stuff. Have I worked on the sweater since I finished the body? No. It needs sleeves. But I’ve thought about it and felt guilty.
It’s not a new one, but I’ve seen a few authors on Threads share this one lately, so you might like it, too, if you haven’t seen it yet: Writing at the speed of publishing.
Remember, if you’re not getting the posts you want to see, make sure you toggle them on here.
And last call on this potential giveaway for knitted wings. You can read the full post here, but the short version is that I’d really like a bunch of reviews for NIGHTRENDER on Amazon. It helps a lot. And if we were to reach 500 ratings and reviews for NIGHTRENDER by the time DAWNBREAKER comes out, I’ll knit a pair of wings and run a giveaway.
We’re a ways off, so I don’t think it’s going to happen (though I am very grateful to everyone who’s left a review, you absolute rock stars), but I felt like I should mention it again. And if you really want to take up all my knitting time and prevent me from finishing that sweater, well, you know what to do.
I hope you’re having a great September. Happy reading!
Don’t forget to do the button things!
