Thanks, friend! Sometimes we all just need permission to not do all the things that would be challenging for an entire team of people, let alone a single writer!
Ditto - She's the spitting image of my "Flecks", long may she RIP. I've had others. Loved them all. Have two adorables now. But none will ever be my "Flecksie Cat". Waaaa!!!
I can barely believe that I'm not the only one who does that! We know we have to write the book first, don't we? But does that keep up from fretting about this at night? Noooo.
I realized I was doing it any time I got an edit letter -- like not only was I trying to organize my thoughts about the notes, but trying to physically organize the space around me. And it makes sense that we'd do the same thing when trying to feel in control. If nothing else, you can control your space! It is a physical thing to *do* and you can see the results.
A terrific, and very wise, post. And you're completely right! Control what we can and be reasonable about the rest. I should get this tattooed on my arm so I can see it every time I write.
I saw the title of this post and the first thing that popped into my head was “Jodi, this is clickbait” 🤣🤣
Did it work though?? lol
Haha I mean, I would have read it anyway
You're a good egg.
Fantastic post. 100% agree with the overall sentiment.

You had me at the cat pictures. ❤️😸

Ah, torties! They are truly wonderful.
My cats are very pretty and I always try to soften any emotional blows with their photos. :)
Good reminder this morning as I spin out about "how the heck am I ever going to find readers". Need to write the danged book(s) first.
Writing your book is definitely the first step. Hang in there! <3

LOL! Sad, but true.
Great post! I like to tidy too, it helps me feel more in control 😅
