(I did not enjoy renovating the house. But I’m happy to be living in the result.) <-- this is how I feel about revising. I don’t particularly enjoy doing it but I’m always happy with the result. 😂
I like revising to an extent. It's so nice to fix things and get them closer to the thing inside my head, buuuut my early revisions tend to be full or half blank page rewrites. Don't like that. I really like the polishing stage, when I get to make sentences pretty.

This post is both hilarious and extremely useful! I'm glad your house is finished now (apart from the basement), and I shall begin to tackle my WIP from the bottom up, using your tips 😊
Love this analogy! Gonna send it to a few writer friends :)
Ahh, thanks, Nicki! Glad it works for you!
Excellent newsletter, Jodi!

Hah! I get that, too! It's SO frustrating sometimes. But having read enough of your work, I can confidently say that you do a great job revising.

I, too, love the polishing stage! Making the story sparkle is a lot of fun. (But sometimes I'm soooo tired by the time I get there!)

Thank goodness the basement is now done! Aside from anything small he decide it needs. I THINK I’M FREE!! 🤣
I’m glad the analogy was helpful!
