People ask me so often, I figured I might as well!

This was a great post! It honestly sounds like such a good time when it goes well.

As someone who's very Type A, I shudder at the thought of co-writing. There's already so many cooks in the kitchen with a book - editors and publishers and so on - that I at least like having full control in the drafting process. But you make me yearn to find co-writers and give it a shot!

Two of the Janies are also extremely Type A, if that tells you anything!

I always thought I couldn't write something with another person too -- that I would be too possessive over *my* project. But when I started writing with the right people, it became *our* project!

Love this! I have a couple awesome writer friends where we've started projects that i was really excited about. But ppl get busy and things fizzle out. Do u include a due date in the contract/timeline?

You can, but unless you have a publishing schedule already, I wonder if that puts unnecessary pressure on the project. But we Janies do set aside specific times and goals (not in the collaboration agreement) to write together. When we could travel more easily, we found a place to stay for a week or so and had a very, very productive writing retreat. It cost us money to do it, so we had a lot of incentive to not goof off, heh. And eventually, we had a publishing schedule we needed to fulfill.

Oh a writing retreat would be amazing!
