I love everything about this post. A good reminder, for writers at all stages. 🖤

I'm glad you liked it! I have to remind myself about these things sometimes, too. Learning the same lesson over and over again.

Your post was a timely and terrific reminder to be true to ourselves - in writing and in life. Thank you. But I also have a few questions. Nice knitting! What is the pattern and yarn?

Also... cinnamon roll prince???

The yarn is handspun, but the pattern is Adjustable Wrap by Ruth Michel!

And yes, the prince is as sweet as a cinnamon roll. Protect him! (Because I won't.)

I love this! I must constantly remind myself not to compare but it's so hard. I've also tried writing to a trend and that failed, but like you said, I'm glad it did. I think I'm just now settling into what types of stories I want to tell. It feels good but also scary that no one wants it 😅

For things that worked: craft books, talking craft with critique partners and intentionally working on a particular skill, Scrivener--I'm a plotter and this program works so well with my brain!

It feels really good to understand what you're passionate about and want to work on!

I'm with you on Scrivener! It's such a good piece of software!

Great wisdom, Jodi! I’ve learned that I HAVE to outline. I can’t pants a project. #PlannersUnite

Yes! I learned that about myself, too! I do much better when I have a clear idea of the story.

If you don't mind me asking (feel free to ignore), tell us your boring skincare products that work, please?

Haha, I don't mind at all. I'm not sure if it's available everywhere, but my dermatologist told me to switch to Dove sensitive skin (I went with the bars, but she said liquid was fine too) and CeraVe cream (not lotion -- this is thick and comes in a tub). I later added their AM and PM face moisturizers and hand cream to my routine, which have all worked well for me. The cream and hand cream have the Eczema association logo on them; the face moisturizers do not, but I figured they were probably a safe risk.
